As making an appointment, this year, the 5th
International Kite Festival was organized again at BR-VT province. This is one
of 7 important cultural – sport and tourist events of BR-VT in 2014. After 4
times happened at BR-VT province, the International Kite Festival left a good
impression on tourist and craftsmen’s minds. With this festival, BR-VT province
had a chance to confirm its position and role as a world-class playground to
people who like flying kites.
With available natural strengths such as
spacious beaches, smooth sand, moderate wind speed together with incessant
effort of hierarchies and localities to create pure tourist environment, BR-VT
became familiar destination of many international kite craftsmen.
In 2009, the international kite festival was
held as an experiment with attendance of 150 craftsmen coming from 17 countries
and territories. After that the festival has been becoming annual event in the
upcoming years. Beside the return of craftsmen who used to join previous kite
festivals, there were many new famous kite craftsmen around the world. The kite
festival of 2014 attracted 150 craftsmen coming from 22 countries and
territories. Among them there are many countries which have long-standing
tradition of making and flying kites such as Indonesia, India, Thailand,
Singapore, China, Philippines etc.

told: “I joined lots of kite festivals in many countries but I thought BR-VT
province is the best with good preparation. Local residents were very friendly
and pupils were so intelligent in kite making class. In the countries that I
used to join, they just held kite festival but not kite making class for
children like this”.
The most special feature of the International
Kite Festival at BR-VT province was night kite show. Scenario, music and light
effect etc of the show were prepared carefully to create a fantastic space that
After 4 years, the International Kite
Festival has been becoming destination of many specific kites on over the
world. For instance Kite Train from Indonesia with 275 m of length or kites of
USA craftsmen was made by the most modern materials and techniques; then big
size kites of New Zealand was made according to aerodynamics principles and Canadian
kites can fly without wind etc.
At this 5th international kite
festival, unique fighting kites named Rokkaku of Japan were continuously
displayed. Vietnam, as the host, presented Uncle Teu and Miss Tien aerodynamics
kites. At the festival this year, most of kites had special design that helped
themselves fly without wind.
Beside the performance and exchange programs,
the international craftsmen were excited by kite making class for children.
According to the evaluation of Organization
Board, the weather of BR-VT was fairly favourable for flying kites and the 5th
festival was a consecutively successful one of BR-VT program.
